The idea of Special Education can be daunting for parents of children who are newly recommended for services. Navigating the system may even seem challenging for parents who have been dealing with it for several years, particularly if there is a disagreement on what services should be provided. As an advocate, Janiece helps families wade through the ARD process and paperwork. She will meet with the family to explain legal and educational terms, make sure that the rights and responsibilities of all are understood, and attend meetings to help the parents advocate for their child's best interest. Finally, if there is a need for the family to fight for services, Janiece will stay for the long-haul and work to find a solution for all parties involved.
