I typically only offer tutoring services for children with a diagnosed disability that affects the behaviors or emotional stability of a child, thereby affecting their academic success. However, I am willing to take on some special cases so feel free to email me with a few details about your situation, if interested.
Yes. Each of my workshops meets the standards set by the Texas DFPS. When applicable, trainees will receive a certificate of completion that includes the hours of training, course taken and all other relevant information (per the "Minimum Standards for Child-Care Centers," Licensing Division of the DFPS.)
I can help with any part of the ARD process that you need me to. I can walk you through what to expect and help you understand paperwork, terms, rights, and services provided and give you recommendations based on my past experiences and the needs of your child.
In most cases, yes. I am trained to work with the children who exhibit these types of behaviors, and their families. Please give me details in your inquiry and I'll let you know what I can do. It is important to be honest with me about your child's behavior patterns, however, as I approach each case differently. If I find that important information has been intentionally held back, I reserve the right to end my work with the family.
It is extremely important to understand that this diagnosis does not define your child. While it will affect them, and your family, throughout life, their individual personalities and unique skills will be very different from others who have received the same diagnosis. That being said, I can help you understand what autism is and how it typically affects individuals. Also, I can observe your child and give you a general indication of what to expect and how to move forward.
I am not a psychologist or psychiatrist. I cannot and will not make a diagnosis, provide clinical counseling or recommend treatment. What I can do is help you and your child learn how to cope with their issues as they pertain to behavior and educational issues.
I will meet with you and your family and help you determine what type of educational setting is best for your child. I will only speak with a teacher if 1) I am an advocate at an ARD meeting for your child and the teacher is present OR 2) The teacher would like my presence at a parent-teacher meeting. Beyond that, I will help you seek alternatives for your child if his/her current educational environment is not suitable.
