Janiece has spent the majority of her adult life working in education. She started out working at Salesmanship Wilderness Youth Camp, a residential setting for teens with behavioral and emotional disorders, working as an educational assistant. There she developed a passion for working with kids who deal with non-typical issues and decided to change her career goal from pre-law to education. After finishing an 18-month commitment at the youth camp, and continuing to pursue her college degree, she began working as a Preschool Teacher at Oak Tree Academy in Tyler, Texas.
As she finished up her Bachelor’s Degree, she interned at Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas ISD, where she taught World Geography and American History in a general education environment and Resource Level Algebra in a self-contained classroom. She also spent time interning at Sudie Williams Elementary, in the same district, in a Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD).
After graduating from Texas A&M University at Commerce in 2005, Janiece went on to work at Steven’s Park Elementary in Oak Cliff, Dallas, Texas. The school was a Title I school, serving a low-income area. English was a second language for over 95% of the students. She worked as the Functional Life Skills (FLS) Teacher for students ages six through 12.
After a two-year stint with Dallas ISD, she moved on to Rockwall ISD where she taught at Maurine Cain Middle School. There, she primarily worked as a Functional Academics and Resource Teacher, serving kids with disabilities such as Down Syndrome, Autism, and Emotional Disturbance.
Upon deciding to pursue a writing and educational consulting career, Janiece resigned from Rockwall ISD in June of 2013.
More than where she has worked, Janiece's experience and training are key-points in what she can provide as an Educational Consultant. Her educational expertise is in four areas: Autism Spectrum Disorders, Behavior Management, Early Childhood Education and Special Education. This expertise comes from the amount of time she has worked with these four populations and the amount of training she has had in each area. She has worked anywhere from five to 10 years directly with children from each group.
